Description
Dowel Bar
Manufacturer Dowel Bar / Dowel Studs.
These Bar provides joint stability, reliable load transfer and smooth slab-to-slab transition, in a single cost-effective assembly. it’s a slender, cylindrical steel rod designed to mechanically link concrete slabs, columns, or pavements while preserving the flexibility of horizontal joints.
A properly installed minimizes joints palling, eliminates tripping hazards and improves joint filler appearance this must be properly aligned if they are to function correctly. For that reason, it is necessary to attach them to the sub grade at a 90-degree angle to the edge of the pavement. These bars come in various diameters and lengths. Each bar should remain parallel in the horizontal plane during placing and finishing operations. Dowels should not be closer than 12” to the intersection of any joint.
The purpose of includes:
- Facilitating Load Transfer: these bars effectively transmit the weight generated by one slab to its adjacent slab, thereby minimizing impact loading when slabs meet.
- Mitigating Cracking and Faulting: By strategically incorporating dowel bars, corner cracking and joint faulting in concrete structures are significantly reduced.
- Enhancing Joint Performance: These bars play a crucial role in improving the overall performance of paving joints, ensuring greater durability and longevity of the structure.
Size of Dowel Bar:
The dimensions of bars typically range around 18 inches in length, with a diameter falling between 1.25 to 1.5 inches. Their spacing is usually set at 12 inches apart, a measurement that may vary depending on the thickness of the pavement. To inhibit rusting, dowel bars are commonly coated with epoxy or crafted from stainless steel.
