DIN 125A flat washer

Plain washer, form A, without chamfer. Spreads the bearing load under a nut or bolt head and protects the joint face. The general-purpose washer for metric fasteners.

Nominal dimensions in millimetres. Sizes are quoted by the bolt they suit, not by the hole diameter — an M12 washer has a 13 mm hole.

A plain washer is not a locking device

DIN 125A spreads load. It does nothing to stop a nut loosening under vibration.

Where vibration is a factor, specify a spring washer, a serrated flange nut, a nyloc nut, or a wedge-lock washer — and note that a spring washer under a high-tensile bolt is flattened by the clamp load and contributes little.

Hardness matters under high-tensile bolts

DIN 125A is 140 HV or 200 HV depending on grade. Under a 10.9 or 12.9 bolt, or a structural bolt, the washer can dish or bite into the joint face.

For structural work use a hardened washer to ASTM F436M or DIN 6916 instead.

Where the drawing calls for a hardened washer, a plain DIN 125A is not a substitute.

Supply

Round washers are imported and held in stock, sourced from established mills and supplied from our warehouse in Umm Al Quwain.

Plate washers are manufactured at our own plant — square or rectangular, cut and drilled to your drawing, for anchor bolt and base plate work.

Testing

Dimensional and thread inspection is carried out in our own plant on calibrated instruments. Tensile, hardness and chemical testing is carried out by independent UAE-accredited laboratories.
