There is no dimensional standard for plate washers — they are made to the engineer's drawing. The sizes below are what we commonly supply for anchor bolt work and are indicative only. Your drawing governs.

The hole is deliberately oversize

Anchor bolts are rarely set exactly where the drawing says. The plate washer hole is cut larger than the bolt so the base plate can be adjusted on site.

Where the hole in the base plate is oversized or slotted, the plate washer is what carries the load across it — that is the whole reason it is specified.

Tell us the hole, not just the bolt size

A plate washer for an M20 anchor might have a 22 mm hole or a 30 mm hole depending on how much adjustment the engineer allowed. We cannot infer it.

Give us A, B, d and t. If the washer is slotted or has more than one hole, send the drawing.

Galvanize after cutting and drilling

Cutting or drilling a galvanized plate exposes bare steel at every edge and hole, which is exactly where water sits. Plates are cut, drilled and then galvanized.

If plates arrive galvanized and are modified on site, the cut edges need cold galvanizing paint as a minimum.

A plate washer is not hardened. Where the drawing calls for F436 or DIN 6916, a plate washer is not a substitute.

Plate washers are manufactured at our own plant alongside anchor bolts, studs and threaded bar. Cut, drilled and coated to your drawing.

Ordering them with the anchor bolts avoids the common site problem of the bolts arriving without the plates that go with them.

Testing

Dimensional and thread inspection is carried out in our own plant on calibrated instruments. Tensile, hardness and chemical testing is carried out by independent UAE-accredited laboratories.
