Description

Long Nut:

Long nut, also known as extension or coupling nut, is a threaded fastener for joining two male threads, most commonly a threaded rod, but also pipes. The outside of the fastener is usually a hex so a wrench can hold it. Coupling nuts, also called extension nuts, are used to join two threaded rods or pipes, including threaded rods or pipes of different sizes. Usually constructed in a hex shape for wrench hold, the most common uses for coupling nuts include tightening rod assemblies or to pushing a completed rod assembly outward.

General:

coupling bolt is a mechanical means of holding two halves of a flanged shaft together to properly transfer the torque while maintaining shaft alignment.

Types of Couplings:
  • Oldham’s Coupling: Oldham’s coupling is used to connect the two parallel shafts when some eccentricity is present between two rotating shafts.
  • Hook’s Coupling: This is also known as hook’s joint, universal joint or coupling. …
  • Double Hook’s coupling: …
  • Rigid Coupling: …
  • Flexible coupling

Straight coupler to connect two pipes together, end to end. … This slip-on pipe fitting is designed for use with standard 1-1/2″ pipe (aluminum or steel).

Also known as extension nuts, use these to connect and extend threaded rods. They’re about half the strength of medium-strength steel coupling nuts for use in light duty fastening applications.

Zincplated steel coupling nuts resist corrosion in wet environments.

Hotdipped galvanized steel coupling nuts have a thick coating for better corrosion resistance than zinc-plated steel nuts. They must be used with other hot-dipped galvanized fasteners.

Blackoxide steel coupling nuts have a dark surface color and are mildly corrosion resistant in dry environments.
